With the introduction of batting cages, many a batter has improved their batting average tremendously. The type of training that a batting cage provides can even compare to just practicing with a pitcher on a somewhat regular basis. Batting cages afford a batter the opportunity to swing at balls in a quick and efficient manner. A batter is only limited to the amount of time he or she has reserved a batting cage. When choosing the right batting cage, consider the following: 1. Batting cages should be selected just like one was picking out a baseball bat. A small bat will require a small batting cage. A larger bat will require a larger batting cage to more replicate the distance between pitcher and batter. 2. Find out what the batting cage is constructed of. PVC pipe and cotton netting will not last more than a couple of years. Aluminum piping and nylon netting will last for years to come. 3. The nets should be fixed in a way to allow the batter an unrestricted feeling. Nets that are tightly enclosed may cause the batter challenges when batting in an open area. 4. If you rent or will rent a batting cage on a regular basis, it might make better sense to buy one instead. Batting cages can make the world of difference in anyones batting average. But like everything else there is a cost. Be sure to look at the costs of renting and buying and go from there. Buying a batting cage does have its advantages.
